Fruitful Journey of Baoxing Steel at “Metal Expo Istanbul 2024”

A few members of Baoxing Steel client specialist team were fortunate to attend the “Metal Expo Istanbul 2024” held at Atatürk Havalimanı Yolu, Istanbul, Turkey, from September 11 to 14. Metal Expo Istanbul is an international trade fair and exhibition dedicated to the metalworking, metallurgy, and foundry industries. It gives the chance to showcase a wide range of products, technologies, and machinery related to the metal sector, including metalworking equipment, industrial machinery, steel production, foundry technology, and more.
Turkey is located on the Eurasian continent, and its steel industry plays an important role in the national economy. It has become one of the most important steel production centers in Europe and the Mediterranean. Steel exports of Turkey reached US$259 million in July 2024, a year-on-year increase of 171%, mainly due to the significant increase in exports to the Mediterranean region. The EU is the main export market for Turkish steel, especially Italy and Spain. Despite the EU's steel quotas, the country’s exports have risen sharply due to its low-price advantage over the last few years.
Speaking of the most frequently inquired products at the expo, color-coated coils, stainless steel, carbon steel, steel bars, and aluminum were among top of the list. And bulky orders weighing over thousands of tons turned out to be much more common than we had expected before. And the buyers were very mindful of the prices of the products they needed and would take into account the anti-dumping duties imposed on the products when comparing the prices of the suppliers on-site. Except for color-coated coils, other products are subject to anti-dumping. Among them, the anti-dumping tax on boron-containing color-coated coils is the lowest, followed by cold-rolled steel, galvanized steel. And hot-rolled steel produced in China has the highest tax rate. So it is not hard to imagine color-coated coils drew more of the attention of the buyers than other items.
Overall speaking, this exhibition ended up quite fruitful for our company as we exchanged business cards with more than 300 businesses from all over the world and many of them have expressed strong willingness to build deeper bonds with Baoxing Steel in the future!
